Frequently asked Questions
at Mountain Lake Campground

We’ve answered some of the most commonly asked questions for you, so that you can be prepared and informed for your visit to Mountain Lake Campground!
Q: Do I need a fishing license to fish in the lake?
A:

Yes you do, and you can purchase them online at www.wvdnr.gov, or buy one at the local walmart. There is a one day non-resident license for $3.00

Q: Where can I launch my boat?
A:

There are 3 places close by. 1. The Marina, which is around the cove from us. 2. Salmon Run, which is just as you turn off Rt 19 onto our road (this is also the winter launch). 3. Battle Run, which is about 5 miles from us.

Q: Where can I rent boats?
A:

There are 2 places.  One is the Marina just around the cove from us. The Marina offers boat and kayak rentals. To rent from the Marina, please call 304.872.1331.  The other is Summersville Lake Retreat, about 3 miles from us.

Q: When does does the lake fill up and lower?
A:

Generally the lake is full by Memorial Day. They start letting the water out around the 2nd or 3rd week in September until it reaches winter pool. Sometimes the water drops fairly fast rate, so we advise you to keep this in mind. Use caution and keep an eye on your boat, especially when docking, or if you tie up to the shoreline on our beach area.

Q: Do you sell firewood & ice?
A:

Yes we sure do! You can purchase those at the Country Store. There you will also find a snack bar, groceries, fudge, ice cream, camping supplies, live bait, ATM, souvenirs & much more. The DNR discourages bringing your own wood because of the wood boring bug infestation.

Q: Do you have washer and dryers?
A:

Yes they are coin operated and are located in the Area#1, 2, & 4 bathhouses.

Q: Do you have fire pits and picnic tables?
A:
